I'm Mari, a chemist-turned-artist based in Chicago, IL, USA

My mission is to capture the world's existing beauty...
...sometimes turn it on its head...
...and perhaps even build upon it.
I want to use my art to add kindness to the everyday...
...and make people smile.
I believe kindness matters. Every sale of my Kind Notes benefits the National Alliance to End Homelessness or The Fund for Global Human Rights. I anonymously mail original hand-drawn and hand-painted pieces to people that need to know someone is thinking of them. And I've started leaving my tiny Kind Notes all over town for strangers to stumble across.
An artist with a chemistry degree? Before devoting myself full-time to creating, I was a chemist by day and a DIY/home decor blogger by night. I'm naturally curious and always experimenting.
My home projects have been featured by HGTV, DIY Network, Today, West Elm, Lowe's Porch, Apartment Therapy, Buzzfeed, Etsy, Bob Vila, Mollie Makes, What to Expect, and countless others.
My art and photography have been commissioned by Urban Outfitters, VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Daniel Wellington, Thoughtfully Magazine, Plumb Notebooks, and more.

I love expressing myself through color and I add new original acrylics and watercolors to my site every week or so.
